a weblog about girleens that travel. read of their adventures!

OK Tee’s post filled u in on pretty much everything so im not going to write much on it except for my first kayaking experience which was the beggining of our 3 days of hell!!

Before i start this i want to say Im very happy i have friends that care for me as much as they do. Thanks so much tee and lids i owe ye!!,

Sorry mam!
Happy as Larry i jumped into the kayak and paddled off excited just to be in one. Halong Bay is massive and has hundreds of identical big rock like islands. On the way back from circling an island me and Carrie were not sure which way we came from and we started to panic because it was getting dark. We also saw about 30 eagles hovering over and island and might even of said to each other that they were going to eat us.. We saw another boat in the distance and paddled to that. A bit weary at first thinking it could be full of Nams, we approached it with caution but relieved we saw a bunch of tourists laughing at us. We demanded to get on the boat and thanks to the tourists we got on. There was no radio, no mobiles, no flares, the staff hardly spoke english so we just had to sit and wait. The tourists on the boat were very friendly, i had a beer to calm me down and Carrie got a change of trousers from one of the girls. After about 30 - 45 mins another tourist boat came. Unknown to us our boat had actually put on emergency lights to signal to other boats to come over. We got on that boat and they took us to find our boat. Eventually we found it and got on, as i was jumping accross to my boat i was getting shouted at by the staff. One guy was shouting something to me in vietnamese and i just legged it accross and hugged the girls. I reckon i was in shock cause i was a bit histerical and didnt realise a speed boat had gone out to look for us, after being told about five times from Lids!! So then all i hear is 20 dollar 20 dollar and realised what the guy was upset about. No way was i giving him that and thanks to tee i gave him 100 dong (6 dollars).
After settling down the girls told me how Nam made the situation worse by not doing anything and generally not giving a shit, he just wanted to leave and was not reassuring anyone of our safety. in fact he told them people get lost all the time.. Tee was going to deck him apparantly and after about asking him 20 times John persuaded him to get the speed boat in which him and Liz (carrie’s friend) came out to look for us. Everyone on the boat was very worried and Nam didnt care, didnt even have a bloody torch!.

Anyway it all turned out ok but of course when the speed boat came back they demanded more money and Carrie gave them another 100 dong to shut them up.

Im just glad we were safe and the girls could stop worrying although the funniest thing was when me and lids went to our room she showed me the pics of me going into the distance in the kayak, they were quite eery and we laughed a couple of days later at lids showing a girl in shock what could of been her last photos– haha now thats us just being dramatic and our strange sense of humour haha but i will post them up.

Thanks to everyone on the boat too, i much appreciated the support

well thats it, Carrie if u get on line drop me an email cause we didnt discuss our experience the next day cause nazi nam kicking us off the boat after brekkie!!

What Dee forgot to say is that when she was sailing towards us Lids and I were shouting their names but we both couldn’t hear her. When we finally figured out it was definately them we were so relieved. When we shouted out what had happened all we could hear from Dee was “There was a huge big shark!”. Craic me up girl!

Yeh the big shark is also a bit like the Octopus spider at the half moon party.Eh Dee.But Dee was in shock and I dont think I really helped by showing her the last pics I had taken her and then commenting to her that these would of been the last pictures of her alive. Not very comforting.Definitely think I can cross off becoming a Doctor or a Nurse.Dohhhhhhh.Sorry Dee.But really the pics are so eerieeeeeeeeeeeeee.
