Your probably thinking what the hell is the title of this post all about.Well anyone who loves their Indian i.e my Bro in law Gav will know its a yummy Indian dish of Potato with Cauliflower and myself and Tee made it for Kasia,Gerry and Dee last week.It involves alot of chopping and blending of tomatoes, onion, some tasty Indian spices but all in all it was a great success as none of them have complained about Delhi Belly. So all good.We even made Garlic Nan bread.Delicious………….
I dont know if we told u but in Changmai, Northern Thailand myself and Tee enrolled in a 1day Indian cooking course.Cooking courses are huge in Thailand and in India they arent so commercialised.Thats why we did it in Thailand. When we arrived it was like being transported back to India. The restaurant was a mere room with a few plastic tables and chairs, bare walls with hangings of Hindu gods, some Indian music in the background, some ants roaming around the delapetated kitchen with its rusted utensils.Even the toilet smelled of India.Nonetheless it was the best food ever despite decor.
The day started off with us having breaky there after filling up on some Indian type pancakes with some Tea(thank god it wasnt Masala tea, we hate that)we chopped up some veg with our Bengali cook Amritjit(theres photos of her and Tee are under our Back to Thailand pics). The poor woman, a real Motherly type, had just arrived back from Calcutta the night before. She was knackered but trooped on to show us overf 12 dishes throughout the day.Her husband Pritpal kept us hydrated by serving us water, coke and also beer though unfortunately it wasnt our favourite Indian Beer Kingfisher.Boy were we stuffed.Indian food is so filling. We stopped for Lunch which consisted of our favourite Thali dish which is made up of several different sauces, rice and Nan all on a silver dish. After this we couldnt move but had to strive on as we had another 4dishes to do.My favourite dish in Palak Paneer which is spinach and cheese.Oh yeh.Tees favourite is Aloo Gobi. The course was well worth the 18dollars each as we just ate for a whole day and 2days after too.We brought home a doggy bag.Amritjit kept insiting we should bring more home but we really could barely walk as are stomachs were about to explode with all the food.Definitely recommend this course to any fellow travellers who are embarking to Changmai.
After our 2days of indulging on Indian(u have to make huge portions when cooking Indian) Dee cooked us a yummy Chicken Tika/Curry dish last week too.So we are enjoying the aul cooking though tonite we are giving it a break as its Tight Arse Tuesday and our trying to book into the local Italian for some cheap grub.Oh yehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.Lasagne here I come…………..
