a weblog about girleens that travel. read of their adventures!

I’m just on my lunch at my new temping job and have just finished watching “WIll and Grace”. Tis all going well. The work is boring as hell, scanning can never be stimulating can it, but its all about the money, eh? Especially since its less than a month till we leave Melbourne, which we’ve come to love, (yes Laura O’Higgins, you were correct its a brilliant place, enjoy your moment), for New Zealand. Though I’ll be sad to leave Melbourne just as we were properly getting settled in, I’m really excited about New Zealand. Its somewhere I’ve wanted to go since I was a wee cailin and I read my first travel books with glossy pictures. Glaciers, volcanoes, indigineous peoples’ traditions…yep it’ll be all good. The girls and I are all full on with the work at the moment. We’re all pretty much doing 5-6 days a week. Though Lids will probably start doing 7 soon! I went to a bbq in Kris’ house on Saturday with Fee, meat tastes bloody good when you haven’t had it in a while, and was going to go into a gig with some Melbournian mates but I got called into work at the Celtic Club, and that was the end of my weekend! I worked the Saturday night with Lids and some others and then on Sunday there was this big fund-raising function, which was attended by the Melbourne Irish community. It was quite a drunken affair but the music was great. After it finished Lids finished up and watched the Australia -vs-Brazil match with Roberto, one of the guys that works with us. They got plenty of drink into them but Lids only got home at 5am and then had to go back into work for 10am, which is why I met her at the door when I came home and she headed off to work. I did 15 hours through from Sunday to Monday morning. Boy I was wrecked. Thanks to all who attended the mass last Friday and those who sent me e-mails, texts and cards. My family was all weirded out by the fact that they couldn’t light any candles at the mass besides the one I sent home from Oz. Odd altogether. Australia is playing Croatia tonight and everyone’s excited, though its on at 5am and I’m working office and pub tomorrow so no way am I gonna catch it. I’m somewhat torn about the result though because my sister-in-law Diana is all for the Croatians. I can’t be seen to let the side down!

Got a new cheers for the list, Dervresex, tis Estonian!

Well done to Australia for getting through to the next round of the World Cup. I only caught the last 5 or so minutes but Lids was slapping the ground with her hands and Fee was on the edge of her bed so I assume it was an excellent match.

Ah Dee! I just love Bob Dylan. Are you going? If you’re just selling those tickets and don’t have other ones I’m disgusted. How about taking one for the team! Can’t wait for Lids to get that e-mail with Ibiza styled gossip. Course I was a wee cailin Kev. I just may spell it incorrectly.

No, I don’t know about the spelling Tee, I just sort of imagined that you were always as you are now… ;-) Glad to see you’ve been able to watch the foootie in between all the hard work. Are you getting the money together?

dEE, what are you on about? Who is Bob against? And why?

Yeah it was an excellent match. Despite being exhausted I woke Lyds at 5 this morning and she dragged herself out of bed to watch it. (I could watch it from my bed cos I sleep in the sitting room). We tuned in 3 minutes after is started and already Croatia were 1 nill up. After much screaming at the TV and at Harry Kewell, who redeemed himself with that great equaliser in the second half, we went back to sleep for a couple of hours. However Harry doesn’t really need to redeem himself in my eyes, I think he’s pretty cute. Lids prefers Aloisi. Anyway bring on Italy, I think we’re going to brave the elements and head to Federation Square for that one.
