a weblog about girleens that travel. read of their adventures!

Its only a few months till that special time of year again but when we first arrived in Christchurch it truly felt like Christmas!

Fee’s 21st birthday was quite well attended. You’d think Lids and her would have bought some new threads since though.

Eh, cheese?

Don’t the girls just looked delighted with themselves!

Fee, Lids and Triona on our first beach walk after we’d picked up the people carrier. They’re Spanish dancing with their clackers here if you couldn’t tell.

Our hosts in wonderful Westport, Clive and Ruth on an evening in.

Sunrise at Kaikoura.

Lids, Fee, Barry and Triona begin whale watching. Would’ve helped if they’d looked at the water.

The back of a Sperm whale!

Sperm whale waves goodbye before diving down again.

Fee does a bit of a Joey from Dawson’s Creek pose here.

A little church in Franz Josef after I went in and said a little prayer. I know Pops, ya can’t believe a heathen like me would go in, but there ya have it!

Niamh, Vinny and I (they’re both from Eire) after a wee glow-worm sighting walk.

Franz Josef itself in all its glory.

We begin our ascent to quell the beast and conquer Franz Josef…

We’re somewhat ahead of ourselves in the striking a pose look. We still have another few hours atop the glacier.

A view up.

A view behind.

Fee and Lids put on a brave face after we heard some girl from the group ahead of us screaming at the next bit we had to traverse. It wasn’t all that bad in the end.

A picture of the group exluding myself. Mike from Canda is at the head and Lucy, who’s hopefully got through to do her A levels is a the back.

Hmm, what’s going on here? Lids!

A misty mountain!

Fee displays her advertising power.

Lids in the Minus 5 ice bar in Queenstown.

Flank and a light post. Hey, Flank, what’s your first name?

Lids, Fee and Triona at a club.

Eh, who’s got the keys? By gum did we make a whole lot of racket that night.

Mirror lake on the drive to Milford Sound.

Mirror lake through the trees. I do love trees. Not gonna get to see the big redwoods in California though. Not enough time by half.

It was raining at Milford Sound so there was water cascading down the mountains all around the fjjord.

Posing in front of a waterfall after we’d checked out some dolphins.

A river we walked by on the way back to Te Anau. Anyone else see why I love this country?

Anyone else find this freaky? Looks like the scream.

Trees and me!

Lids with Dan the man from Cork in a bar in Wanaka. He showed us a good night. Pity we were wretched tired though.

A view along the road from Wanaka to Queenstown.

Ah, look at the babies! The girls before our skydive at Lake Wanaka.

Lids landing.

eXtreme photo!

Luscious Lids before a stunning backdrop on a drive from Queenstown to Glenorchy.

Aoife, Lids and Fee on arrival night.

Ray, Barry and Triona having a few scoops.

Fee, Lids and Aoife preparing to head up the ski slopes.

Fee and Aoife looking the business.

Me and Lids waiting on our stupid head ski instructor.

Its amazing!

View of Mount Cook.

Aoife, Lids, Fee and Ray after our supposedly 40 minute walk.

Luscious Lids does drama at Punakaiki.

Pancake rocks at Punakaiki.

Playing guitar with our metal Maori man.

Our hosts in wonderful Westport, Clive and Ruth on a night in.

Squeeze!

Me on my walk in Abel Tasmin National Park.

Pristine beaches in Abel Tasmin. Pity it was so ruddy cold in the water though.

I love trees and ferns!

My tramping buddies in Abel Tasmin, Charlotte, Beth and Abbey. Thanks for keeping me company girls!

Aoife’s arm after skiing.

eXtreme sightings in Wellington!

Don’t know what the time out is about. Its supposed to be eXtreme!

A Crater of the Moon crater.

Myself on my toddle around the Craters of the Moon in Taupo.

Huka Falls. The power of that water I tell ya!
