a weblog about girleens that travel. read of their adventures!

Can’t believe its already December people! Time is just rushing by. Feels like its hard to take a breath! The rest of this month is set to be unbelievably busy (read expensive). I’ve got about one weekend evening where I’ve nothing planned in my diary before Christmas, which is this Friday, and I plan to keep at least that one! Its my very best friend Laura’s birthday this Saturday 8th December, and in her wisdom she’s thought of a Fairytale house party. Can’t wait to see the costumes! Though have to worry about getting something for myself first! Trying to organise some carol singing through Couch Surfing on 22nd December in aid of Console - Living with Suicide, will update ye if its going ahead as you should either join in, or stop by to support. Can’t wreck myself too much as that night I’ll be going to see Kerbdog to get murdered on the mosh floor. On Sunday 9th December Console are having their annual Christmas Celebration of Light in St Patrick’s College Maynooth. I missed it last year, but am organising the family to go to it this year. Probably have dinner before it at home, or after out in Maynooth. Ah, the organisation never stops!
Weekend was great, yet again. Went to the Greyhound racetrack with work on Friday, lots of food, drink and betting galore. Ended up in the plus with about €5, not amazing, but at least not down! Did some more work on the house on Saturday morning and went to Galway with Lids to see our good mate Burke, who, though she’s been home from Paris since the start of September, we hadn’t seen, so it was mega good to catch up with the gossip. Though the weather was less than miserable, the gossip, dancing and hanging more than made up for it. I’d recommend the pizza in Milano’s in Galway, and the kebab shop round the corner from Quay St. Didn’t catch the name, but the food was divine! Met up with Tongie and her Norwegian fella Frank on Sunday for coffee in the Amnesty Freedom Cafe, and then dinner in Chez Max. That’s a cute place I have to say, and the fish was gorgeous. Wasn’t tempted by the frogs legs. You only ever need to try them once! Went to see Interpol on Sunday night with Jonathan and, though the RDS isn’t the best venue, the music and dancing were class. Jonathan enjoyed the work-out. We got a bit worried when we were walking up to the RDS Simmonscourt and saw a lot of teenagers. Turns out we were standing at the door to the Rhianna concert when we should have gone straight to the Main Hall of the RDS, doh! So I marched Jonathan down to the correct venue (really, I did, he moaned about the speed and everything, Laura would understand his pain), and luckily were in before the band came on.
So what’s delicate about December you may be asking, or not if you’re not slightly interested, well its me actually. Feeling a tad bit over-whelmed at the moment, so its time to sit back a bit and take stock. Not just emotionally or from socialising, but physically. Back pain started back yesterday with a vengeance, so I’m concentrating on back exercises for the next few days, but if its not better by Thursday I’ll be going to the Osteopath. No way am I letting it get as bad as it did back in 2003. What a frigging nightmare that was! Stopped me from going away to study in Tuebingen, Germany for the year and everything! You take so much for granted, particularly your body, that when things go wrong you’re never prepared for it, and sometimes you ignore it, like I did the last time, though I was walking like a duck, there was huge dent in my ass cheek and when I stood “straight” my hips looked like I was trying to balance something on one they were so out of whack. Looked like a belly dance move. Getting my couch delivered on Thursday 13th December. Can’t wait to spend that evening sprawled across it!
Hope everyone is getting their Christmas cards out. Time is flying!
