Is there something so terribly wrong with being a bit idealistic? It’s not like it harms anyone! It’s not that you’ll see anyone with a thread of idealistic predisposition dying of it, unless they’re naive and think that by standing under a SUV it will make people stop driving recklessly. No, it would just make the driver a murderer and the other person dead! Is there something innately horrid about trying to think about other people and how to improve lives of anyone less fortunate? Why should a person with an innate wish to believe in the good of others being told how selfish and horrid the world is and that nothing you do can make a difference stop living as they wish and pander to bleak outlook? What’s so fucking wrong with giving other people chances and believing in them straight out? Believing that people can make something of themselves, and that for every bad story you hear, there are a hundred stories of good that aren’t listed in the paper. If the person is ultimately disappointed, well then they’ll have to live with that, not you! Why should someone be embarrassed of their beliefs?
Nobody has to believe in everything another person does, but neither do they have the right to preach that their word is law. Everyone deserves some respect unless they continue to do things that do not warrant that respect. If you want to be so argumentative then go on a talk show or research and prove me wrong but please don’t think that you’ll stop positive thinking. I’m freaking done, and not just a little sad.
