Was online to book flights, and having a pain in the backside getting it done. Should have booked our flights from Costa Rica to Bolivia before we left in May. Its now more expensive for the damn flights, and its bloody impossible to get them! Ah well, ya live and ya learn. This is what we get for playing it by ear! So its our last full day in Cuba. Leaving tomorrow for Costa Rica. Score! Cheaper internet and phone calls. I’m not all about the writing home and stuff, and like to experience the country, but I do love writing about my travels, and its been tough here in Cuba to do that. Plus haven’t been able to put up any photos on the website for all those who asked for them. Particularly the Openet crowd for something to look at during those arkward silences at buns on Friday (eh, yeah right!).
Dee & Laura I promise you that if I do ever start to like tuna its because I’ve been taken over by alien parasites, and after tuna, I’ll be eating your brains! Was the Bon Jovi gig good Dee? Was Lids “Living On A Prayer”? Oh, Tongie gets all my best puns these days. She may come home in September a little cuckoo. Go on Dublin with winning out against Louth today. I’d say it was a good atmosphere in Croker.
I’m feeling fine now after those 2 days of sickness. Getting sick in the internet cafe in Baracoa wasn’t fun. Neither was having to brave the minging toilets every 30 mins on the bus to Habana, but all is better now. We’ve had some fun over the last two days with Ailish and Marissa in the big city. Witnessing bottle fights, shimmying to salsa, catching out hilarious attempts to overcharge us for beer when we’d already seen the price and the lady seling us the beer trying to cover it up with a “Really? Its only 1.15 CUC as opposed to 5 CUC that I said? Well I never!”. We’re down to our last few CUCs and the girls are leaving this evening with our presents for people in tow. Thanks Ailish!
Just looking quickly back over this post and its a bit all over the gaff as they say, so I’ll sign off with a few choice Tongie words and then I’ll head to my street, that’s O’Reilly Street of course, for a last beverage before heading back to the casa for dinner. Got a gorgeous painting that I have to show the chicas.
Later peeps!
Tongie quotes:
“This is nice!” - this can be a view, person, meal, toilet, rocking chair (she loves the rocking chairs)
“Its great to get out of the city!” - but Tonge we haven’t actually been in a city in two weeks, and we’re getting a bus to another back water town?!?
“Oh, I just watched a chicken cross the road. And it looked both ways” - this actually happened. It was when she was sick and staring out the window from the rocking chair for about 2 hours. Little bit zonked out?
“Entreprenuerial!” - Tongie’s delighted to find that life indeed does find a way, and no matter if there’s no soap, people will find a way to wash!
